Shanghai’s Lin-gang Special Area has unveiled a major new attraction with the official launch of the L+ Snow Indoor Skiing Theme Resort, now recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest indoor skiing resort in the world. Covering a vast area of 98,828.7 square meters, the resort promises a snow-filled wonderland for skiing fans and tourists eager for winter fun.

The resort’s Snow World features a vertical drop of nearly 60 meters and three professional skiing slopes, which together span approximately 1,200 meters in length. Additionally, there is a sizable snow entertainment zone that offers various leisure activities for visitors.

In addition to skiing, the facility also boasts a water park, dining venues, shopping areas, and hotels, aiming to boost the city’s ice and snow tourism industry. Since its soft opening in August, the resort has attracted close to 100,000 visitors and sold more than 100,000 tickets by September 6, with families and young adults comprising the bulk of its visitors.

Yin Kang, the resort’s executive deputy general manager, shared, “The trial run and ticket sales have clearly shown the public’s excitement. We’ve gathered useful feedback and will keep enhancing our services and facilities. Visitors can enjoy skiing alongside various leisure activities with their families.”

The resort’s opening is timely, coinciding with China’s booming ice and snow industry following the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. It meets the growing demand for ice and snow tourism in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region, providing a more accessible option compared to trips to colder regions.

Zhao Tianjiao, a 30-year-old aircraft engineer and experienced skier, commended the resort’s slopes, saying, “Having such a ski destination close to home is incredibly convenient for people living in Shanghai. The advanced slope is particularly impressive, offering a great incline and high-quality snow.”

With its comprehensive range of winter sports and leisure activities, the L+ Snow Resort is expected to become a leading destination for winter enthusiasts, further establishing Shanghai as a key location for entertainment and tourism.
